DOESNT time fly? The festive party season is almost upon us.
Whenever you host a gathering with friends, party snacks are essential.
Cater for more and spend less with these quick and cheap canape suggestions.
ROLL-UP, ROLL-UP: Ham and cream cheese roll-ups are quick, cheap and easy.
Pick up a 1.49 pack of Lidl ham and 1.19 pack of cream cheese, spread the cheese onto the ham, cut the roll into slices and serve.
BAGEL BITES: Get a five-pack of Tesco own-brand bagels for 95p, toast and then cut each one into smaller segments.
Spread a little Tesco Creamfields cream cheese, 85p, on to the segments and top with Asda smoked salmon trimmings 1.90. Any leftover bagels are ideal for breakfast.
EGGS-CELLENT & EASY: Devilled eggs are the retro snack having a revival. Get 15 eggs for 1.49 at Aldi, hard boil, slice in half lengthways and scoop out the yolks into a bowl.
Add a spoon of Aldi Bramwells mayo, 79p, a teaspoon of English mustard, 45p, and a sprinkle of paprika, 59p, before piping (use a sandwich bag with the corner cut off for this) into the well where the yoke was.
SPUDS AWAY: Roast 1kg of Morrisons baby potatoes (reduced from 1.29 to 99p) and remove from the oven.
Score a cross into the skin and squash slightly, top with grated cheese and add a little chopped cooked bacon, before returning to the oven for a few minutes. This also works with larger potato skins.
CHEAT WITH PRIDE: If time is tight, get a great deal on party food at Tesco.
Buy three packs of treats such as halloumi fries, tempura prawns or mini eclairs for 6 with a Clubcard, usually around 3 each.
Meanwhile Iceland has also pulled out the stops. Pick up duck samosas, mini eclairs, breaded French Camembert rounds and apple pie bites as part of their three-for-a-fiver party pack deals.
