A CRUISE ship worker has revealed that there is a “whole city” that passengers aren’t allowed to see on board the ships.
The crew need places of their own to hang out when they’re not working and though there’s plenty to do above deck, they also like to spend time away from the guests.
That’s why they have their own bars, lounges and places to relax that are hidden away below deck that passengers will never be able to see.
In a video on Tiktok, one cruise worker spilled the beans on just how much there is to do for crew members when they’re off duty.
The cruise director (@gagegriffindor) said: “There’s a lot to do on board. We can interact with the guests if you have guest privileges upstairs.
“But, there are a lot of places the guests can’t go on the ship.
“There’s all these lounges, there are cafeterias, there’s a lot of different places that are hidden away where we can wear normal clothes without having to wear our uniform.”
Visiting lots of different places seems like one of the obvious perks of being a cruise ship worker, but Gage explained that a lot of people don’t even bother to get off when the ship docks.
He said: “There’s X-boxes in a lot of these crew areas and you can also just get off the ship at the port, which is what a lot of what I do.
“But a lot of people will sit around and play video games or board games with each other, or go to the gym with one another.
“There’s a lot of different options on the ship and it’s not all in the guest areas.
“There’s a whole city behind the scenes.”
In a separate video, Gage showed one of the crew-only bars on board.
He said: “There’s a lot of bars where crew workers will go behind the scenes when they’re done working.
