EDINBURGH is already a special place to visit because of its breathtaking scenery and architecture, however, near Christmas time it becomes a bit more magical.
Roads in Edinburgh are jollied up with Christmas market stalls throughout December and here is all you need to know about the festive event taking place in the Scottish capital.
When does Edinburgh Christmas market start?
Earlier in the year, the Edinburgh Christmas market plans were up in the air after Angels Events Experience – the company that also runs Winter Wonderland in London‘s Hyde Park – pulled out funding and organising.
Unique Events took over the event just in time to run the special Christmas Market in the streets of Edinburgh and will also hold a special show for this year’s Hogmanay.
The Edinburgh Christmas Market will kick off on Friday, November 25, 2022, and close off on January 1, 2023.
Meanwhile, the ice rink in George Street will open a day after on November 26, 2022, and run till January 3, 2023.
All attractions will be open from 10am until 10pm every day.
Where is the Christmas market in Edinburgh?
The Christmas market stalls and attractions can be found on Princes Street.
What will I find at the Christmas market in Edinburgh?
You will for sure find many a range of hot food and hot drinks to keep you warm and full while having a stroll around the various activities being held.
Apart from the Christmas Markets, you will also find Santa Land and the Forth 1 Big Wheel along with other rides.
Santa and his elves are ready to meet children and see whether they’ve been naughty or nice this year.
There will also be Santa’s Stories sessions held for groups of 25 children, who will not only listen to Santa’s best tales but also speak to him directly and receive a gift from him.
Visitors can also make their way through the illuminating Christmas tree maze and then be left impressed by the Winter Windows art exhibition.
There will also be choir concerts taking place throughout the festive period.
There are many more activities taking place to keep everyone entertained and make sure to get everyone in the Christmas spirit.
You will need to get your tickets in advance for these activities, which all start running at 2pm and you can do so from Showcatcher.
