A MAN has warned people about the size of their hand luggage after a passenger was charged $100 (£84) to bring his bag on a plane, even though it fit in the size checker.
In a video on Tiktok, the passenger who posts as @cubsracingsociety, started by revealing that the airline, Frontier, were checking the bags of all the passengers on their flight.
He also said that anyone whose bag didn’t fit received a fine.
He said: “Frontier is checking everyone’s bags to make sure they fit in the little box.
“If it doesn’t fit, then you have to pay $100 (£84).
“It’s dumb because you’re going to carry the bag on the plane anyways, you just have to pay if it’s a few inches bigger.”
The man then showed a fellow passenger slipping his bag easily into the size checker, only for him to then be fined for “shoving” his luggage into the compartment.
The same passenger was also asked to apologise to the airline staff for arguing his point, according to the man who shared the video.
He said: “This guy barely used any force at all and he was still forced to pay $100 and give an apology to the gate agent.”
The video also contained footage of the passenger being shouted at by a member of Frontier staff, claiming he had “embarrassed” the check in agent to whom he was asked to apologise.
Other users were shocked by the footage, saying the fine seemed ridiculous, especially for the person in the video.
One said: “If I have to pay $100 at the gate I might as well have just paid that to another airline to bring a full suitcase and actually be comfortable in air.”
Another wrote: “They’ve gotten really picky about this recently, it’s just a ridiculous money grab.”
Skateboarder Shaun Hover was checking in for his flight, when he was told he would have to pay $89 (£75) for his board as it didn’t technically fit the hand luggage measurements.
Instead of paying the extra money, Shaun decided to stamp on his skateboard, breaking it in half, meaning he would then be able to take it on board the flight without having to fork out for the extra space.
Meanwhile, this easyJet passenger was filmed hilarious trying to fit his bag into the size checker.
And this woman dodged Ryanair’s hand luggage rules by sneaking a bag in under her coat.
