Drinks are also part of a healthy diet. In order to support the body all around when losing weight, the liquid intake should be well selected. You are expressly encouraged to grab these eight drinks!
If you want to lose weight, you should ensure an appropriate calorie deficit – and at best this should not be more than 300 calories a day.
That means more exercise, fewer sweets, and healthier meals with lots of vegetables, healthy fats, proteins, and complex carbohydrates.
However, the amount and type of liquid are often ignored – not every drink is suitable for losing weight.
Stay away from high-calorie drinks
What has often forgotten: Many drinks provide liquid calories and can reduce weight loss success – for example fruity smoothies, juices, energy drinks, or milk coffee.
During your diet, it is better to rely on drinks that have few calories and are particularly known for their positive effects on the body.
It is also advisable to keep an eye on the amount of liquid during the day: everyone should consume at least 4 percent of their body weight. That is about 2.4 liters for a body weight of 65 kilograms.
During intensive training, add 0.5 to 1 liter in addition.
We have listed eight different drinks for you that you can integrate into your weight loss process without a guilty conscience. Bottom-up!
1. Water – the classic
One of these drinks, of course, is water. Not only does it contain no calories, it also supports the body in metabolic processes and also helps with detoxification.
During the weight loss phase – but also for your general health – it is advisable to replace sugary drinks such as soft drinks or sweet juices with water or to increase your fluid intake.
If tasteless water is too boring for you, you can easily spice it up by adding some fruit such as citrus fruits and berries, but also cucumbers.
In this way, you even benefit from the vitamins at the same time.
2. Unsweetened tea
Consumed regularly, green and black tea can reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases as well as some types of cancer and diabetes – this is shown by the results of various studies.
Additional studies suggest that green tea may help with weight loss due to two ingredients: caffeine (40 mg per 100 grams) and a compound called epigallocatechin gallate.
While a review of the studies found that in most cases, weight loss from green tea wasn’t significant, you’re still welcome to drink it during your diet.
After all, unsweetened teas come with no calories and offer a welcome change from the rather dreary water.
3. Asian Kombucha Tea
Special tea from Asia, the so-called Kombucha, deserves special mention. It has many positive effects on the body. But this tea is especially ideal for those who want to lose weight, as it keeps the blood sugar level stable and thus prevents cravings.
4. Drinks with ginger
The pungent tuber has been used for hundreds of years to improve digestion. The anti-inflammatory properties also make ginger a thoroughly healthy food.
You can add fresh, chopped ginger to your tea or water to reduce hunger pangs and boost metabolism.
Perfect for the cooler season: morning ginger shots. They not only increase your body’s fat burning but also strengthen your immune system and give you a decent energy boost.
5. Black coffee
You can’t do without coffee? No problem, because you don’t have to do without the popular pick-me-up when you lose weight. Only sugar and milk are no longer allowed to go in at will.
Drinking black coffee can even help you shed pounds. The chlorogenic acid it contains inhibits certain digestive enzymes, which means that less fat and sugar are converted and absorbed.
A study has also shown that the caffeine contained in coffee is a true fat burner and actually stimulates the body to burn calories.
6. Drinks with apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is said to have various health benefits. This includes weight loss support. The sour essence has an antibacterial effect, ensures a healthy intestinal flora, and stimulates digestive and metabolic processes
When drunk before a meal, the acetic acid it contains is said to curb appetite and boost metabolism. In addition, the blood sugar level remains constant.
Important: Only drink the vinegar diluted, otherwise it can damage your teeth.
7. Protein shakes
A protein-rich diet can keep you fuller for longer and support muscle building – as can the protein shake after training.
Important: Do not underestimate the number of calories in the shake. To make the drink a little lighter, you can mix the powder with water instead of milk or use low-calorie alternatives such as almond or oat milk.
You should also check the ingredients of the protein powder for the time being and use high-quality products without many additives – organic products are ideal.
8. Green smoothies
While fruit-based smoothies contain a lot of fructose and can therefore throw a spanner in the works when it comes to losing weight, green smoothies are a great alternative.
These contain mostly low-calorie and low-sugar vegetables and are prepared with water or healthy plant-based milk.
It is best to avoid avocados, bananas, mangoes, and pineapples. Although they are all healthy, they provide a lot of energy as a snack between meals.
Tip: Always make your own and never buy finished products. So you can be sure not to fall into a sugar trap after all.
