Shoppers rush to buy cheap champagne from bargain store that tastes like Laurent Perrier – but costs 1/3 of the price

SHOPPERS are raving over a bargain champagne dupe that costs over £36 less than the branded version.

Who doesn’t love a bottle of fizz over the Christmas season? But with most costing anything from £40, it can set you back a bit.

Aldi’s champagne dupe costs over £30 less than the name brand equivalent

Luckily for champagne fans, a TikTokker has found a cheaper alternative for Laurent-Perrier fizz.

Speaking to her 35.4k followers on the app, Lucy Hitchcock, founder of Partner In Wine UK, shared the Aldi dupe that costs just £8.99.

She said: “I think I’ve found an Aldi dupe for Laurent Perrier.

“This is just as delicious.”

The bargain bottle is the Specially Selected Cremant Du Jura (12% ABV) and is available both online and in store.

It costs a huge £36 less than the £44.99 bottle of Laurent-Perrier ‘La Cuvée’ Brut Champagne (12% ABV) we found at Majestic Wines.

Lucy goes on to say: “This Cremant Du Jura is made in the exact same way as champagne – the traditional method.

“Giving it the those delicious notes of brioche and toast.

“It’s also made from 100% chardonnay grapes so expect elegance and freshness and plenty of citrus and fruit flavours.”

She said this is why it is the “ideal dupe” for chardonnay dominant champagnes like Laurent Perrier.

Lucy encouraged her followers to “run don’t walk” to go and grab themselves a bottle.

It looks like that’s exactly what Aldi shoppers have done.

Commenting on the video with one calling it an “absolute winner of wine”.

On Instagram other people are itching to get their hands on the dupe.

One woman tagged her pals and said: “If you are in Aldi please get me two bottles.”

Another commented: “Might have to add Aldi to the list of places to go!”

While another wrote: “Omg I think I love you.

“You got it spot on with the whispering angel dupe so I Can not wait to get straight to Aldi for this one.”

Meanwhile on Facebook people have been raving about the Aldi find.

A man posted about the fizz last month who was gutted his local shop was sold out.

He said: “Aldi completely dry of Cremant du Jura.

“Thoughts and prayers please.”

Another woman also posted: “Who needs champagne when you can have Aldi’s Cremant du Jura – just as good, at a shadow of the price…”

A lot of the comments on posts about the Aldi favourite were quick to point out that it does sell out fast.

So, while it may be available now it might not last long on shelves.

Before heading to your local store, which you can find on the website, it might be worth calling ahead to check it’s in stock.

Also, when ordering online to make sure to factor in delivery costs.

Of course there are other supermarkets who offer similar champagne alternatives.

Tesco’s Cava Brut Non Vintage (11.5% ABV) for £5.85 – although this one doesn’t appear to be the same Chardonnay based wine as the Aldi one.

We also rounded up some of the cheapest supermarket champagnes earlier this year.

As always, remember to check elsewhere in case we missed a cheaper price – there’s never a bad time to catch a bargain.

Prices may vary day to day as well depending on what deals are on, and remember to look at delivery costs too if you’re ordering online.

There’s a really easy-to-use comparison site called Trolley.co.uk, which compares the prices of 130,000 products across 14 major supermarkets.

The Latest Deals app also lets you search items and helps you compare prices at several supermarkets to see where it’s cheaper.
