Tesco Christmas Bank Holiday 2022 opening times: What time are stores open?

Published on December 20, 2022 at 04:00 PM

SHOPPERS will want to know which major supermarkets are open during the Christmas period.

Christmas Day falls on a Sunday this year, which means there is an extra bank holiday on the following Tuesday.

Tesco has revealed when its stores will be open during Christmas Bank Holiday

This is as well as the usual Boxing Day bank holiday on Monday, December 26.

Tesco has over 3,400 stores and opening times can vary across the UK.

To find your nearest store’s specific opening hours you can use the locator tool on the Tesco website.

But times might change slightly from the norm over the bank holiday so we’ve rounded up everything you need to know.

Is Tesco open over the Christmas Bank Holiday?

All Tesco supermarkets will be closed on Christmas Day this year as staff relax for the festive celebrations.

On Boxing Day, Tesco Extras and superstores are open 9am to 6pm.

Most Express shops will close at 7pm and some larger ones will close at 6pm.

The following day (Tuesday, December 27), Extras and superstores will open at 8am and close at 8pm.

The majority of Express stores are open for normal trading hours, with 24-hour stores opening at 6am.

Selected larger Express stores will open shorter hours, from 8am to 6pm.

Tesco opening hours over the festive period vary from store to store and by location, so it is advising customers to find their local store opening times on its website.

This is also the best place to check for petrol filling station opening times, as these can vary from the main store opening hours.

Are shops closed on the Bank Holiday?

The majority of retailers have confirmed the days people will be able to shop in their stores over the Christmas period.

Most shops and supermarkets will be closed for certain days in order to give staff some much-needed time off.

Almost all stores across the UK are shut on Christmas Day, but there are also a handful of retailers that won’t open on Boxing Day either.

Opening hours can vary from branch to branch, so check your local store times before you make the trip.

Most big retailers will have their opening times listed on their websites.

We’ve rounded up a full list of high street shops and supermarkets’ opening and closing times over the next week.
