Some places in the world have a unique glamour: we show where stars like George Clooney, the Kardashians, or Justin Bieber spend their holidays.

Solitude in the South Pacific

Located in French Polynesia, Bora Bora means “firstborn” in Tahitian. US actress Jennifer Aniston honeymooned with Justin Theroux on Bora Bora in 2015. Tourism is the island’s primary source of income. The Kardashians have been here too, as has Nicole Kidman and her husband Keith Urban.

Mexico for the rich and famous

Stars like Jennifer Lopez and Justin Bieber have already vacationed here: Cabo San Lucas in Baja California Mexico impressed with luxurious hotels and breathtaking landscapes. One of the main sights is the rocks of “Land’s End” (picture), which protect the picturesque bay “Lover’s Beach”. Writer John Steinbeck once described it as “a little boy’s pirate dream”.

“At the Copa, Copacabana…”

Copacabana is perhaps the most famous beach in Brazil. Barry Manilow landed a hit through the club of the same name in 1987. Miley Cyrus, Tom Cruise, and Justin Bieber have all been spotted here. This aerial photo shows a work by French-Swiss artist Saype, which he painted on the beach using biodegradable paint.

From Princess Diana to Barack Obama

On the Virgin Islands, a resort welcomes exclusive guests. Pictured left is the late Princess Diana in 1990 with her children, Princes William, and Harry. Model Kate Moss has also been there, as has former US President Barack Obama. A room costs 5,000 euros, an entire island can be rented for 80,000 dollars.

The island of the gods

Mick Jagger married his second wife, model Jerry Hall, in 1990 on the tropical island of Bali, Indonesia. Bali has become a popular tourist destination – and still attracts a few celebrities to get married here.

“Summer is Coming”

The city of Dubrovnik in Croatia appeared in the fantasy series “Game of Thrones” whose famous slogan is: “Winter is coming”. Since then, Dubrovnik has been attracting more and more visitors – although most of them come in the summer. Jackie Kennedy and Giorgio Armani stayed on the island of Hvar. Prince Harry has also been spotted here.

Saint-Tropez: Star magnet

Saint-Tropez, on the Côte d’Azur in southern France, regularly hosts the biggest stars. Responsible for this is the French actress Brigitte Bardot and her appearance in the film “Und immer lures the woman” (1956). In 1971, Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones married his first wife Bianca here. Bill Gates, Steven Spielberg, and some Kardashians have also been here.

“The most beautiful lake in the world”

The Huffington Post awarded this title to Lake Como in Italy in 2014. The microclimate and the beautiful villas and villages were praised. George and Amal Clooney own a mansion here, as do Brad Pitt and George Lucas.

Sun, Summer, Snow

While the word “holiday” often brings to mind summer, sun, beach and sea, the rich and beautiful often prefer it cooler: European stars and members of the royal families have been meeting in St. Moritz in Switzerland for decades. In this picture from 1969, Farah Pahlavi, the former Shah’s wife, skis to the Nero slope with her ski instructor.

James Bond is also coming to visit

In 1977, the James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me starred Roger Moore. Although the film was supposed to be set in Austria, the opening sequence, in which 007 is being pursued on skis by Russian secret agents, was mostly shot in St. Moritz.
