Your body is a bikini body: Find out which bikini suits you best

Women in bikinis

Which bikini style suits you best and which swimwear do you feel most comfortable in? With us, you will find out. On your marks, get set, go. Summer can begin.

As a rule, hardly any material and little covering: When it comes to bathing suits and bikinis, we take a particularly critical look in the mirror. It’s good that there is now swimwear that we can use to emphasize and show what we like most about ourselves. Behind this is the body positivity movement, which stands for more body acceptance and self-love.

It’s about accepting your own figure as it is and not orienting yourself to any beauty ideals. “The idea of the bikini figure is deliberately broken,” says Fatima Njoya, junior fashion editor of “Glamour” magazine. “So the trend is to break away from an unrealistic or outdated ideal.”

This is why fashion companies are increasingly working with models of large clothing sizes. “We have a veritable potpourri of different styles and patterns to draw from, all of which accentuate different elements of the body,” says Fatima Njoja.

Emphasize your favorite body parts

Everyone has a favorite spot that they particularly like about themselves. If we highlight them visually, we immediately feel more comfortable and attractive.

A great design element of swimwear is the high-cut bikini bottom. “What’s new is that many high-waist models show very high leg cuts,” says fashion scout and stylist Ritchie Karkowski from Timmendorfer Strand. This stretches our legs and sets them off really well.

The swimsuit also offers such design options. It is currently available in two variants, each of which focuses on a different favorite page:

One with a low back, which is accentuated with ties or bows. Or the other way around: The swimsuit has a very deep décolleté in the front, sometimes down to the navel.

Direct the eyes where you want them to be

Stylist Ritchie Karkowski recommends a striking or low-cut top for those who particularly like their cleavage. “And then a bikini panty in the trendy high-waist style and in a subtle color.”

An alternative is the trendy ruffles. They give tops more fullness and emphasize the hips in panties.

The cut-outs are also a great design option. These are deliberately placed holes in the fabric. Most often they are used at the waist, but they also show skin on the upper stomach area between the navel and the chest, for example.

By the way, the cut-outs are Karkowski’s tip for women who would like to have more curves. Such holes at the waist visually form an hourglass figure.

Put more fabric in the right places

The current trend of fashion offers comfortably wearable pieces with feel-good cuts. High-waist panties often reach high to the waist and are the best example of this. So no more pinching because panties that are too tight don’t sit well on the hips and stomach. No more constant insecurity because the top does not cover the bust sufficiently or does not hold it well.

Another example is the halter top, i.e. with straps running over the neck. What is new is that these straps are cut very wide and worn crossed, reports fashion scout Anette Helbig.

And that can not only offer more comfort than usual straps but also give the bust more stability – compared to sports bras, which often have crossed straps on the back.

Two-tone models put you in the limelight

“Colorful and eye-catching” is the current swimwear, says shopping scout Anette Helbig. The palette ranges from pink to orange to green, “so-called two-tone models, i.e. one-piece suits and bikinis in two colors are also very popular.” Black and white look a bit more elegant, while orange and pink look cheerful and summery. By the way: The combination of orange and pink or pink is actually a color trend in women’s fashion.

Depending on the color gradient, the two-tone pieces can also focus on our favorite side just like the cuts. Find a model whose most eye-catching and lighter parts of color are in the areas that you like most about yourself. You’ll probably never want to part with it again.
