Christmas Day falls on a Sunday this year, which means there is an extra bank holiday on the following Tuesday.

We explain whether Co-op will open or close today on the day of the Queen’s funeral

This is as well as the usual Boxing Day bank holiday on Monday, December 26.

Tesco has over 4,000 stores and opening times can vary across the UK.

To find your nearest store’s specific opening hours you can use the locator tool on Co-ops website.

But times might change slightly from the norm over the Christmas bank holiday so we’ve rounded up everything you need to know.

We explain whether the Co-op will remain open this week.

Is Co-op open over the Christmas Bank Holiday?

Co-op is to close all its convenience stores at 9pm on Christmas Eve.

All stores will then remain closed on Christmas Day.

On Boxing Day, convenience stores will open between 8am and 9pm.

Co-op stores will stay open until 9pm on New Year’s Eve, before reopening on New Year’s Day at 8am.

You can find your nearest Co-op on the supermarket’s website.

Shops usually open around 6am or 7am, and close at 10pm or 11pm.

The Co-op has more than 2,000 stores in the UK.

Are shops closed on the Bank Holiday?

The majority of retailers have confirmed the days people will be able to shop in their stores over the Christmas period.

Most shops and supermarkets will be closed for certain days in order to give staff some much-needed time off.

Almost all stores across the UK are shut on Christmas Day, but there are also a handful of retailers that won’t open on Boxing Day either.

Opening hours can vary from branch to branch, so check your local store times before you make the trip.

Most big retailers will have their opening times listed on their websites.

We’ve rounded up a full list of high street shops and supermarkets’ opening and closing times over the next week.
