FANS of Coca Cola have noticed a change to their favourite fizzy drinks bottles and they are not happy.
Avid Coke drinkers have been sharing their frustrations at the new design on social media and a lot of them are saying the same thing.
Some people might have noticed and others not, but Coca Cola has started rolling out new caps to their bottles across Britain.
The caps are attached to 1.5L and 500ml bottles and don’t come off when you open your drink.
The change can also be spotted on Fanta, Sprite and Dr Pepper bottles.
It aims to make it easier for people to bin their drinks when they’re finished but Coke drinkers on Twitter don’t seem convinced.
One wrote: “Not gonna lie. That new attached cap design is annoying.”
A second moaned that the cap “gets in the way when you drink it” and another called it the “worst idea ever”.
“Still needs work on getting it to stay out of the way whilst pouring/drinking and doesn’t mean I recycle more as always did,” another chimed in.
Some people hadn’t even realised it was a new design and had been snapping the lids off anyway.
“Genuinely thought I’d bought a couple of defectively moulded caps of late on the 2l bottles,” said one person.
And another said: “Been cutting them off. Surely you screw back on once finished though right?”
But others welcomed the change as worth it “for the planet”.
“I get the point but they’re bl***y annoying LOL But I’ll make the sacrifice for the planet,” said one woman.
Coca Cola started rolling out the cap change back in May and said the switch is set to be completed on all plastic bottles by early 2024.
Jon Woods, general manager at CocaâCola Great Britain, said: âThis is a small change that we hope will have a big impact, ensuring that when consumers recycle our bottles, no cap gets left behind.”
Earlier this week LidlÂ announced its own change to packaging in a bid to be more environmentally conscious.
The discount supermarket is ditching the familiar packaging seen on milk tops.
Instead, milk will come with the same clear plastic lid which can beÂ recycled more easily.
Posh shopÂ Waitrose ditched its red, blue and green milk capsÂ over the summer – and shoppers all said the same thing.
Meanwhile Quality Streets have also had aÂ major makeover with new eco-friendly wrappers.
Nestle sparked fury among some fans last week as it announced that it was swapping out the original packing to make the chocolates more environmentally friendly.
The selection box treats will now be covered in a vegetable-based wax instead of the classic shiny foil.
It comes after The Sun reported last week that hundreds of adults are still confused about what they can and can’t recycle.
A study by Robinsons found that as many as eight in 10 households are not recycling simple items like cardboard, plastic and food.
